Fascinating Facts About Tigers
Tigers are the largest of all the cat species. They are found in many parts of the world, including India, Nepal, China, Thailand and Burma. Tigers have a unique appearance. They have a big head with short legs and a long tail. The skin color varies from light to dark brown or black. The tiger is one of the most beautiful animals in the world and it is also one of the most dangerous animals in the world.
Tigers are solitary animals and they are very territorial. A tiger will usually live in an area that has a minimum of 200 square kilometers (75 square miles) of forest. It is possible to find tigers in a small area but it is more likely to find tigers in large areas.
Tigers eat meat, fish and insects, but they mostly eat deer and other animals. They can kill up to 300 deer or other animals each year. The size of their meals depends on the size of the prey. If the prey is larger than 80 kilograms (175 pounds), then a tiger will take a large meal. If the prey is smaller than 80 kilograms (175 pounds), then the tiger will take smaller meals, like 10-30 kilograms (22-66 pounds) per meal. Tigers normally eat twice each day, once in the morning and once at night. During this time period, a tiger does not sleep because it needs to be alert for danger. The diet of a tiger consists mainly of meat from deer and other animals that live in the forest that it inhabits. Some tigers also eat carrion such as dead animals that are left behind by other animals, such as dogs or wild boars that have died or been killed by humans or other predators.
Tigers do not sleep much during their time awake because they need to be alert for danger all the time while awake so they do not miss any important things that might happen while they are awake.
